The days are getting shorter, fog and humidity are in the air, the first frost is approaching: Autumn provides tranquility after a hot, lively summer, awakening the desire for warmth and coziness. This is reflected, among other things, in the cuisine, which becomes significantly richer and more invigorating. Of course, the drinks also adapt to the new circumstances: A good autumn beer underlines the change of seasons in a tasty, invigorating way. The perfect beer for autumn is, of course, also brewed in our brewery in Mittersill.

What characterizes a typical autumn beer?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then beer taste… The beery diversity knows how to excite every palate, and so there is not just one single autumn beer, but a wealth of flavor worlds that know how to flatter all preferences. Accordingly, the autumnal beer enjoyment is broadly positioned. Among others, the following factors come into play:

Alcohol content: High-proof warms during the transitional period. Some autumn beers achieve their character solely through the alcohol content, like the classic Urbock.
Aroma: Bitter hops, earthy notes, a hint of harvest and farmer’s autumn: The trend towards craft beer has opened up exciting autumnal scent worlds in recent years.
Mildness: Of course, the autumn trend also goes in the other direction. Mild beers improve well-being and relax.
Longing: Maybe summer is missed after all? Is the last vacation being yearned for? Fruity beers are currently on the rise in autumn. Spicy flavor notes also emphasize the here and now.

Our Autumn Beer for the Mittersill Strudel Festival

In our in-house Bräurup Brewery, autumn of course doesn’t just pass by unnoticed. The autumn beer has long been a tradition for us and is celebrated year after year when the nights get longer and the foliage more colorful.
