Experience tradition up close in the Hohe Tauern National Park

Immerse yourself in the autumnal magic of the Harvest Festival in the Hohe Tauern National Park! This time of year brings to light the living traditions of the Alpine region, from cattle drives to regional festivals. Over 65 events offer a rich program, including the Nassfeld sheep drive in Bad Gastein and the Strudelfest in Mittersill. Enjoy authentic customs, craftsmanship and culinary specialties amidst the impressive mountain scenery.

Highlights of the Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival is not only a feast for the senses, but also an opportunity to experience the centuries-old traditions of Salzburger Land up close. Whether you take part in a mountain fair or browse through one of the many markets – every event reflects the close connection people have with their homeland.

A special highlight is the Mittersill Strudel Festival. On September 1, Lebzeltergasse and Hintergasse were transformed into strudel alleys. Over 30 types of strudel, from classic apple and curd strudels to creative creations, delighted visitors. Musical entertainment was provided by live bands such as Rudi Musi, 7aBagasch and Pinzgauer Blechschaden.

Hollersbach farmers’ market

No less charming is the Hollersbach farmers’ market on October 6. Here you will find a wealth of regional products such as cheese, butter, bacon and sausage. In addition to the culinary delights, there are handmade gifts and a colorful supporting program that includes traditional sounds and children’s activities.
