National park family hike on the Felberberg

The diverse, lush green, glowing alpine pastures around Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden invites you to hike and rejoice. Pleasant routes, great views and many small power spots as well as rest stations along the excellently marked paths inspire young and old again and again. A small national park family hike on the Felberberg makes the natural diversity tangible in an almost magical way.

Round trip for family holidays in Mittersill

For the Felberbergrunde with its 7.25 km and 480 meters of altitude you should plan in about 3.5 hours, rest not included. The family tour manages without excessively demanding inclines and instead focuses on scenic beauty. It starts right in Mittersill at the Felberkirche. At the Felben intersection, a road opens to the left that merges into a forest path at the edge of the forest. Now after approx. 50 m turn right onto the forest road (path number 82) and hike uphill to Kaltenbrunn. At the “Kaltenbrunn” water intake, a gently sloping forest path leads in a south-westerly direction to the Zaunwiese, then south to the Zwölferweg 530 junction and finally down through the forest back towards Felben.

A shorter variant with about 2.5 hours of walking crosses at Kaltenbrunn down to Zwölferweg 530. Not far from the Felbenrunde there is also a spectacular gravel bike path of medium difficulty.

Famous place Felberkirche

While this refreshing National Park family hike reveals a view that is difficult to put into words, perhaps its most splendid place is right at the beginning and end of the round trip. Today people like to get married in the Felberkirche, and so there is a lot of activity from April to October. It is not uncommon to meet a funny wedding party. The originally Romanesque church with its Gothic conversions and Baroque roundings shines with picturesque beauty, opulence and grandeur. A look inside is always worthwhile, while the mighty Felberturm is a wonderful orientation point for this and other national park family hikes.
